Camille Claus, Alsatian Painter and Poet, from Tambov to His Major Donation to the Haguenau Museum
Dive into the journey of Camille Claus (1920-2005), an artist whose life was as turbulent as his art.
Forcibly conscripted and imprisoned in Tambov during World War II, he managed to develop a prolific career upon his return.
His work, exploring expressionism, cubism, and abstraction in turn, later shifted towards a dreamlike style with intense colors from the 1950s onward.
An exceptional exhibition, presented by Jean-Louis Mandel, geneticist and expert on the painter, highlights the complete works that Camille Claus donated to the museum during his lifetime in 2000.
This unique retrospective allows visitors to discover the diversity and richness of his artistic universe.
