Barth Hotel
This townhouse, designed and inhabited by the municipal architect Georges-Joseph Barth, who also created the Bourgeois Hospital, is a remarkable example of 18th-century architecture.
Its windows are adorned with mascarons, sculpted heads that add an artistic and symbolic touch to the facade.
On the ground floor, these sculptures represent the four seasons, evoking the cycle of nature and the passage of time.
Upstairs, the balcony stands out with its rounded and curved corners, while its brackets are richly decorated with rocaille and floral motifs.
On either side of this balcony, two mascarons depict two couples: one representing the bourgeoisie, the other rural life, thus offering a contrasting representation of the social classes of the time.
