Market Square in Dambach-la-Ville
The Town Hall, built in 1547, embodies a harmonious blend of Gothic and Renaissance styles. Its architecture is distinguished by a slender bell tower and characteristic stepped gables.
Nearby, the Bear Fountain, nicknamed Stockbrunnen, dates back to 1543. Its octagonal basin supports a sculpted shaft from 1559, adorned with battlements and twists, topped by a face surmounted by a bear holding a purse.
The Nartz vault, a typical medieval house, was built by the clog maker Alexandre Sermonet after his arrival from Savoy following the Thirty Years' War. Despite limited space at the gable facing the square, the building's height compensates for this constraint and emphasizes its imposing character.
