The Wissembourg Gate
The Wissembourg Gate is one of the few remaining visible remnants of the old wall that once surrounded the city.
Its lower part, corresponding to the original construction, dates back to the 14th century, when it served as a fortified entrance to the urban enclosure.
The gate's current appearance results from a modernization undertaken in the 16th century, giving it its characteristic look.
On its exterior facade, three elevated gun ports can be seen, reflecting its defensive role.
Below these openings, a small niche houses coats of arms, adding a heraldic touch to this historic monument.
