Wolf Estate

At the beginning of the 20th century, the Au Loup district, once made up of meadows, became the site of an ambitious municipal initiative. In 1905, driven by a social-democratic council, social housing was built to counter rising rents. These homes, spread across small three-story buildings with distinctive roofs, are arranged between Risler, Lefebvre, and de la Martre streets. A decade later, between 1924 and 1928, a second phase of the estate was constructed. This new phase adopted a model of urban blocks, bounded by Nancy, Lure, Vesoul, and Valmy streets. Each block is organized around inner courtyards accessible through porches opening onto the cemetery side, while family gardens occupy the heart of the blocks.
